No shit. I bought my first HD Plasma about 6 years ago. It is a 42" Panasonic and it cost over $4000 back then. I can buy it now for about 30% of that I think but it is still going strong and looks great.

Funny, did you know that Samsung and Sony merged in 2006 to build lcd TV's components. The speakers are set up different on the TV's but the internal parts are the same.

I'm sure that's not unique to just Sony and Samsung. Cuts costs on the components leading to cheaper TV prices, which is a good thing.

True .The point I was making in the post was the difference in the TV's. I went to my local sears store and watched a Samsung and a Sony 32" lcd side by side before I bought my Sony. I really could not see any quality difference in the picture and the Samsung was $100 higher.

I did the same thing when I bought my Sony at Sears. Compared both side by side.
But I did get a Samsung Bluray player though. Makes a good set up.

Looking at Bluray players. Prices have come down. Not sure which one to get though.

get the same name brand as your tv... that way your tv remore will operate the dvd player and vice versa without looking up codes, etc...

Great advice.I saw a sony blue ray at walmart for under $150. That's what I'll go with. I still have to keep my old phillips in line to play my DIVIX movies though.
