The whole counter-Potter craze reminds me of when I was about 7 or 8... my aunt, who was raised Baptist, married a Pentecostal man and fully converted... no makeup, long dresses, no TV, the whole nine. So she gave my mom these booklets... one of them was called "Turmoil in the Toybox" and had these evil looking toys in a box with lightning in the background... that listed all these toys that parents should avoid for their children because they promoted "violence, secular humanism, and the occult."

Among the offenders in these quaint relics of the 80s "Satanic Panic" were G.I. Joe, the Care Bears, and my absolute heroes, Masters of the Universe. Picture if you will a little second-grade boy crying his eyes out because he can't play with his beloved toys anymore because they're against God. Castle Grayskull, Point Dread playset with Talon Fighter, He-Man and Battlecat, Skeletor and Panthor, and all their allies... gone.

By the time I figured out that whole dog-and-pony show was a load of horse dook, Nintendo was out and action figure sets didn't matter so much anymore. But in hindsight, it just reminds me of how the superimposed fear of anything mythic, magical or wondrous... especially from a child's perspective, is in itself an abomination against nature.

P.S. The story does have a happy ending though. It appears Masters of the Universe has made a comeback, complete with new action figures, a video game and a pretty damn decent animated series. It gives me a sense of satisfaction knowing that some other little boy will get to enjoy the fantasy universe of my old heroes, and will hopefully be inspired with the same sense of wonder and awe that I experienced during those magical years that can never be replaced.

If you're mainly worrying about this after watching the movies, then you might as well quit now. There's too much going on otherwise for you to get.

The strength of J.K. "Howling" Rowling is that she's a professed witch. That's why her books are well written, because she has done all this stuff. If a person was a basketball player or has experience in a certain activity, and they wrote a fiction series on whatever they did, their books should be articulated very well.

Personally, it should be banned from public schools cause it is teaching a religion of witchcraft. If you cant bring The King James Bible into the classrooms of the American public schools, then Harry and his friends need to go too.

Of course not. If he was, he'd be clinically insane instead of chamingly silly.

Just had a psychological evaluation for a job recently, I checked out A-OK. And yes I was serious.
