    those holes will weaken the wood, so when you see a hole, dip a short piece dowel rod of the same diameter in some wood glue and tap in the hole as deep as it will go.

    that way once the wood glue dries you repair the wood.

    over a few yrs a bunch of mason bee holes will cause a wooden beam or 2x4 to break under a load.

    Glue and peg the holes, caulk does nothing but fill it. I've glue pegged probably a few 100 holes in my barn over the yrs.

    I bet there is a few 1000 I missed.
