    Why is every thing she does with No Doubt halfway decent, but every thing done solo

    ND is definitely better than her solo stuff, but whether either is "good" is debateable. I've always kinda liked No Doubt, knowing they were a softcore washed-down poppy version of what they should be. I honestly like their old stuff more, when they actually tried to put out good music, and had horns, and wrote stuff that wasn't poppy. It put them in that post-ska Save Ferris ideal but with more talent. Since then, they've put out a couple poppy albums, and then tried to harness a couple theme ideas and run with them ("hey look! we like jamaican music!" "hey look! we're emulating the 80s!"). But those ideas are better than hers ("hey look! I'm in my 30s but I'm really a 16 year old Japanese schoolgirl!")
