Man, from the stuff that's coming out about him now, his players really hated him.

You don't need to win the Super Bowl every other year, but you need to have your team get close every once in a while. Denver made the AFCCG a few years back, but otherwise it's either been no playoffs or one-and-done. Same with Gruden. I like Gruden as a coach. I honestly do. But let's face it - he took a perennial playoff team that was assembled by Tony Dungy, cleaned some things up on offense, and pretty much rode an outstanding defense to a Super Bowl title. Absolutely give him some credit for getting that team over the top, but the fact that they've failed to sustain any power in the conference has to fall back on the head coach and GM. I don't blame the Glazers for feeling like they had to make a change. The timing sucks, but I agree that they probably looked at some of the question marks on the team and decided that it was time to start over with a new personality.

looks like the rumor spots including ESPN have Morris as in. So they fired Gruden and Allen just to put two guys under them in.

to make this even better for us, Morris has apparently hired Gary Gibbs, former DC for the Saints, as his coordinator and assistant head coach. That guy kinda sucked for the Saints.

Allen was repoertedly in the process of hiring a new LB coach just this afternoon.

    (talk about no warning)

Mortensen is reporting it'll cost the Bucs 15 million to buy him out. That''s some serious hate.

yeah, Yas was saying that the pair will be $25 mil total.

Interesting that longtime Parcells staffer Bill Muir is suddenly available and the Dolphins have an opening.

Michael Clayton makes it sound like the Bucs players screwed Gruden over.

He said the players realized they knew Gruden's job was in danger and they'd have to play their absolute best to save him.

Seeing how they looked down the stretch in light of that knowledge...

    :backstabber:

(have to admit I find that highly amusing) :sign0081:

Wouldn't surprise me if that's true.
