Based on a #9 pick I'd be shocked if we picked up any QB there. Our current FA signings would tell me thats not the right direction.

I fully expect us to pass on Leftwich or Boller if they are there at #9.

No, because based on what we have done with FA and what I believe this organization is trying to do. I belive FOX and his staff and the Richardsons think the future is now (the next 1-2 yrs). I believe they think we are a playoff team next year. I believe that Delhomme has better odds to make an impact in the next 1-2 years than any rookie QB would. I believe an OT picked at #9 will be more of an impact to the offense than a rookie QB picked at #9. That, my old friend, right, wrong or indifferent is why, I would be shocked if we picked a QB at #9. Nothing more, nothing less, and most importantly, nothing personally.

(Other than the Left. injury, I don't have any pre concieved odd notions that either Palmer, Leftwich, or Boller will be failures. Note this is unlike my pre concieved notion that Winky would be) I simply don't think they will impact the team as quickly.

I tend to agree somewhat based on the Delhomme 2 year deal. I don't we think we grab a QB in round 1. I think Jake gets the year to make or break then re-sign him long term or grab a QB next year. I do think however that we will use anyone of the top three QB's as trade bait should they fall to #9.

Playoff teams still build and prepare for the future. That's something that with Sehorn, Proehl, and talk of Emmitt, would be something we have not done with this team n a year and a half.

That doesn't erase the need. A receiver wouldn't be totally up to speed the first year, either.

Remember though, Doug Peterson got roughly the same deal in 1999 to be the "starter" in Philly.

He had roughly the same amount of success in pre-season and limited playing time behind Bret Farve in 1998 as Jake did with the Saints. He was supposed to be their QB find, which would free them to draft Ricky Williams.

    Reid promptly drafted McNabb.

You are correct sir. I just want to be clear that is nothing personally with my desire not to pick a QB at #9.

Right, Wrong, or Indifferent, I believe that 2 of the top OTs that have been mentioned in multiple draft pools for us could very well make more of an impact the next 1-2 yrs vs any QB we could find at #9.
