No WAY!!!!! Baseball is a great sport to go watch with the kids and golf is great with the father-in-law. Its also humbling to see how much better they are than you!

Basketball...at least the NBA style...BORING!!! Now college ball is different. I love going to watch UNCC play around here.

Hmmmm....mixed feelings here. The team was just being formed when I was spending a lot of weekends in Charlotte. I remember going to see a bunch of scrubs play at the old joint on Independence after the expansion draft. The players were so sorry that such fine expansion fodder like Mr. Tripucka wasn't even playing - the word bum is too generous for these guys. Stiffs in a Charlotte uniform is more likely. Funny thing though - the place was packed to the top. After seeing that, I figured it would be a long, happy love affair between the city and the team.

Just goes to show you how people (everyone in professional sports pretty much) can fuck a perfectly good thing up in no time.

I would rather buy a $4 ticket and have a great seat while sitting under the sun drinking lots of beer. Larry, you think a stadium will get built if the Hornets do in fact leave?

I think if they'll get the hell out of dodge we'll get a new stadium AND a new arena. :D

The arena is going to be built one way or the other. The banks have gained control of the land around the city and are looking capitalize on the mexicanization of the economy by driving the middle class back into the cities again in much the same manner they were driven out during the expansion of the economy. That is why the mass transit is being put back in place again and new middleclass residental construction is actually taking place. Yeah look for all center cities to be propagandized as being great places to live again. Any way the new Arena is going to be part of BOA's and wac hovia's new yuppieland attraction downtown, not only a great place to work but a great place to live as well.

no, but one of the observer bigwigs "won" a pair of shoes after the game. that's all it took for me to realize i wasn't "winning" shit and that it was time to leave.

I have sat up there a few times. Most overrated thing ever. Hot as Hell and Crowded. The Liquor makes up for it though. I have used the Observer tix on the floor a few times also. They rock.
