Good:

Has a fanatstic attitude - Is a born winner
The 99 yard drive vs. SF
The 'answer' drive vs. Minn. Only game we committed to run, only game we won.
Good Arm.
Usually accurate when passing downfield.

Bad:

Forces things. In a very bad way.
Injury prone? Seemed to struggle greatly after hurting his shoulder.
Innaccurate in the short, outside WCO game.

Help me out. So many people bashing the current QB scenario, but I think Weinke can be very good. It was a rough, rough season for damn near everyone last year, and he handled it extremely well.

I think the new system will hide any flaws he might have and play more to his strengths.
It's tough for me to look down on his performance last year. I felt he played a few games he should have sat out and let the shoulder mend...but he's a football player. Seems to have a Warrior mentality, never complained, always showed poise.
Don't know that he'll ever be a Pro-Bowler or lead us to the SB, but he will give us a solid effort everytime he steps on the field.

And your OK with that? Even if we are 2-14? If this were youth league sports I'd be ok with "a solid effort". But in the case of Wienke or any professional athlete, effort don't mean dick unless of course you don't contribute to the loss of a game.

See, now your ranting like a spoiled fan. 1996 is over, it was a fluke in a way. This is an expansion team that choose the wrong path initially and is now just starting to see that they need to build for the future and not rebuild every year.
This team WILL NOT fair very well this year, I am sure of that! I'll be suprised at anything over 6-10.
The cap has made it necessary to approach things differently. It would be difficult to continue our FA spending of years past and stay under the cap. Thus, you end up with some stop gap players because they are cheaper. The product on the field will show that.
Develop the draft picks and young FA. Use the vets as long as we can afford them then replace them with youth.
The road to success for Carolina goes through a Town called Failure. They set up shop in Failure last year. Now I think they are ready to get back on the road en route to a City called Mediocrity. They'll probably spend a year or two there, before renting some space in Playoffville. Once they hit Playoffville, anything can happen.

I don't know what I just did there?

You must have been in the middle of your Cities and Streets software... :D

good- seems to be somewhat of a leader. has had some flashes of brilliance. he can throw a deep ball (at least at fla state he could).

bad- seems afraid to get in the mix i.e. if he fumbles, i don't see him jumping in the pile. Also, never see him out throwing the block on a reverse or anything.

I just wanna see what he'll do in a non wco to decide whether i think he'll be what this team needs. Bottom line is that we have to have the run. I think once we get that and weinke doesn't have to throw or get sacked in .9 seconds we'll be ok. That and the fact that they didn't let him have a different snap count until later in the year last year.

I don't want to make any judgements until I see the new system. I was pumped when we drafted him, and don't see him as the weak spot a lot of you do. The only real downside I see at the moment (assuming everything goes right with the new system) is his age. By the time he really gets into the groove (around his fourth year) he'll be 33, so we can only expect a few "prime"years out of him.

I don't know... how old was Steve B when he had his pro bowl year? Some Panther fans would tell you he was the best QB in the league that year (not this one).

Oh know he said it... :argue: :suicide: :hammer: :chair:
