There was an awesome article on Godfrey in the local paper, but I can't find a link for it...I'll look again tomorrow.

Basically it said he locked up the starting job within the first week of camp and that the staff was impessed with how quickly he's picked things up.

I've commented to a couple friends and maybe even here, but I think he's going to take DROY.

DROY is stretching it, but he looks like a solid starter for us.

yeah, no way he'll get the tackles necessary, and I don't see him picking off a ton of passes right away. Him not having extraordinary statistics will keep him from being ROTY but I'll take him.

I'd still like to see how Holt looks, but I'm encouraged by what I've heard about Godfrey.

True, I don't see him getting a ton of tackles...if your FS isn't having to make alot of tackles, that's a good thing. I am thinking he'll get 6-7 picks and maybe a couple sacks (he's a solid blitzer for a secondary player), probably enough to get him in the conversation for DROY.

As a college player, I never really sang his praises alot. That is, until I considered the fact that he played CB and both safety spots and that he was the best DB Iowa had for three years straight. He just didn't get targeted alot.

ANYWAY, it's a bold prediction...but if he continues to progress, he's going to be that missing piece we've all been bitching about.

certainly. And Beason, with some help from Harris and Davis, will get those tackles. It's not for a lack of his talent.
