    Yeah and they are giving the reason as taking them out to change the name to Smith Sr.

    Odd timing.

    I'm not happy with how this is being handled, in the least. But if Smitty refuses to restructure I guess it has to happen. I guess my question would be was he given a choice?

    It didn't have to happen at all. The money savings are minimal, and it will actually be more expensive to cut Smith and sign another starting WR, even a shitty one. This is all about Gettleman peeing all over the franchise to mark it as his own. This makes no sense as an objective football decision.

    Either way, I'm pissed. It might be another thing if he was slipping down the depth chart to the bench but the games we played without him showed that wasn't nearly the case.

    I like that the media continues to be oblivious to their staggering hypocrisy in writing endless columns about Smith's absence killing the Panthers' offense and now writing that Smith is washed up.
