    Well, he left the Browns without a contract.

    So, if by some odd longshot he DID end up on the Panthers, that would pretty much commit us to a 3-4 with McCoy and Short at the DE positions.

    The more important factor is who's on the field in nickle. Even if he's not a regular in "base" defense, McCoy would be a great addition, since Short is our only threat as an interior rusher.

    Nickle doesn’t get any attention right now with all the jizzing over 3-4, but you are right. It will be the more vital piece of the defense.
