If you draft an OT top 10, and having to pay the salary he'll command aren't you inclined to make him your LT? If thats the case and if the Panthers are looking OT in round 1 (as many suggest) what do you do with Gross? Just wondering the thoughts

I think you fix that by not drafting a lineman with our first. We need skill.

Tends to suggest that, unless the player's just such an incredible lineman (and isn't physically able to play LT, like Mike Williams/Leonard Davis).

OT is the biggest need. Not disputed there - an above average RT will allow us to get by with what we have at RG and give us good bookends. I also feel strongly that making a bunch of lineman picks had hindered our ability to have impact and speed, and therefore we had to err on the other side. We should do our best to fill a need like RT or FS in free agency and allow us to get an impact player, not a need player, early.

ding - give the man a prize!
I'm not even personally worried about RB. I think we need strong, inexpensive bodies for this offense. I think we need a roleplayer with speed at WR. But anything better is fine, too. And we could certainly use a guy to step up on D, sadly. We fucking spent a ton of money on vets to bolster our depth, and they're currently non-existent - the ones that made the cut.

Ok lets assume we waste our top 10 on an OL. How does that automatically trump Gross who was a top 10 pick?

    Linebacker.....

LB could be a need also. As could safety - if it's a Roy Williams / Sean Taylor type.

Hell - Wharton could be in the plans for RT.

    Keeping Mitchell is key.

Oh - 1-7 sucks big ass.

So what's the biggest need at the "skill" positions? I think you have to say RB, Davis is getting up there in age, and is not staying healthy. Foster hasn't played a full season yet. To be a power football team, you need a power back, ala Jamal Lewis. The question is, will there be such a back in this draft?

BTW, I would go with a Roy Williams/Sean Taylor myself, but I don't think there is one of those in this draft.
