Thanks for giving me stats I was readily aware of. I never said Muhammad had a better season than Smith. Smith's stepped up in some ways, mostly production, which is mostly a product of getting more balls. That he's a playmaker, though? He's had some great longball plays, but so has Muhammad. Who isn't a playmaker, but probably has as many good deep plays as Smith.

Ooh, Franchise showed me that I respond to people. Oh, man, hang my head in shame. Weak.

    >Sure. But realize that the expectations of Steve are lower than for Moose, due to a) past performance, and yes, b) salary.

Certainly. Though, in this offense, certainly, getting 100 balls is not within reasonable expectations.
But that's not of what we speak right now. Are you saying that because Smith's produced less in the past, it's acceptible to let Smith ride for letting a ball hit his body, and dump out to the defender, but Muhammad attempts to go 9' in the air for an overthrown ball, on a catch rarely made in this league, and it's his fault? Smith was clearly to blame for his INT. It was a good ball. Muhammad's ball was poorly thrown and to have expected that catch isn't a sure thing. Unfortunate the way it went down, but I cannot blame Moose for that play. THAT PLAY. You know, the one we've debated a long time now. Not "well that time that he dropped one" or "when his hanstring got hurt" or any other time but this game, this play, in which he had one hell of a game and was as big a part of this offense as Davis has in most of the others.

Certainly not. I never made any excuses for Smitty. This whole argument, I have been diverging more towards Moose's play as a whole. Surely you would conceed that Moose was entirely to blame for the fumble after what could have been a big gainer, and gave the ball to the Redskins in excellent field position. This is not referring to the catch that no doubt would have been sweet. If it were not for the fact the skins blow, that could have cost us dearly.
Never once have I said that I blame Moose for THAT PLAY. This whole debate, I have been using THAT PLAY as a microcosm of the season Moose is having. Sure, I would conceed that most receivers in the league don't have a shot at that ball. Moose got two hands on it. Hell, it would have been better if he hadn't touched it all, the sucker would have sailed out of bounds. But he put himself in a decent position to make a play, and instead of making a play, he made it worse. THAT PLAY, is insignificant on it's own. Surely not worth this incredibly drawn out discussion. Moose's play, on the other hand, certainly merits a debate or two. My .02? While he's good for the occasional big game, he is WAY overpaid, and not nearly reliable enough. I'm good if we cut him or resign him for around the vet minimum.

Game Balls to Jenkins and Moose.

I wouldn't give Moose a game ball for the season thus far but he certainly earned one against the 'skins. It was a difficult catch, not uncatchable. He needed this game for his confidence. He has caught several like that and will again.

Sure. One good game does not a season make. Even if he were to turn it around, I'd think twice before I put in a third contract into Moose at his age.

However, you are twisting the debate. This was about whether Moose deserved a game ball. You indicated no.

    This game, he came through.

edit. In other words, see the post above.

And I still indicate no. If I had to give out game balls, I'd give one to Jake and if there was another to give it would go to the O-line.

EDIT: That would be on offense.

Defense would be Jenkins. No question. He's a BEAS.

Seriously. He broke a record. And I would bet money he got one.

    There is no question. :)

I see your point. Just don't agree. :)

EDIT: I will say this. If I had a THIRD game ball to give, after Jake and the line, I would probably give it to Moose. But I don't think teams give out 3 of em to one side of the ball.
