between Marty Hurney & the QB's he's expected to go to battle with and then the front office letting Fox walk, I don't blame him

He's also stated he'll be a Panther until he retires or gets cut...

is there a draft pick that's been with the team longer than Smith?

His teammates consider him a leader. Yes, he is a bit of a prima donna, but considering the Claussen era and all the other B.S., who in their right mind would want to stay with that as a possible long term option? Maybe some slackers who just want $$$$$$$$.

There are times he gets too emotional on the field, but despite periodically wanting to strangle him, I'd still love players who go all out like he does everyday including practice.

Hilariously wrong. Steve Smith isn't even close to being a Hall of Fame wideout. He's only had six seasons over 1,000 yards and only one season of double-digit touchdowns. Plus have you seen how many balls he's dropped in recent seasons? His catch percentage isn't that good for a top WR.

it's possible for Smith to be in the top 10 all time receiving yards when he retires... it's not like he's played his entire career with Joe Montana & Steve Young

I feel like they find him a leader, too. He has to not get his message lost in the way he says it, sometimes.

Don't know about HOF. If nothing else, the massive amount of long gains downed at the 1, inside the 5, whatever have harmed it - had they been TDs, it couldn't hurt.

Smitty absolutely, IMO, had the talent to be HOF. Won't have the numbers.

I don't think he had the talent either. He's done an amazing job considering his size, but he never had great hands and isn't a precise route runner. Would be great if he did make the HoF just to get a Panther in there, but he won't ever come close. It's ridiculously hard for WRs to get in.
