I hate that we did not show up. Maybe if we bring out A game they still beat us but that is not what happened. They came to play and we did not. I hate that, especially when the superbowl is on the line. In 1996 we just lost to a better team. This year we just laid down. Maybe it was all the road games that got to us but still we showed no heart.

I think the reason we were so erratic is our lack of a running game. Find a good back in the draft and bring in a decent FA wideout and we are as good as any team in the league.

I also believe in Pittsburg's chances. The wheels fell off the Panthers last night, but #36 will keep on rolling in Detroit.

after a while to digest it i would like to say i am proud of the panthers for getting as far as they did. that said it did suck watching them lay an egg. if they can get a running game and more than smith on offense and keep spoon they should be even better next year. i also think pittsburg will beat seattle. seattle didnt impress me, panthers just didnt come to play. it was a weird season in which they blew every chance they had to do something until playoffs started but i dont know just ran out of gas or something. heres to hurney comming up with a way to keep what we got and adding to it. nfccg at boa next year.i want to hear what i heard at seattle in charlotte. man it was loud. oh yeah and screw holmgren he has got us twice now.

That's what pisses me off. It'd be one thing if they came out strong and ran out of gas, or at least made it close. I'm not mad about the loss. I'm mad because it was never a game.

    :agreed:

Am I proud of them for getting there in the first place?
Yes for sure, before the game. During the game and after? Yes to a point, but I'm certainly not proud of the way they ended the season. What's the use of going to the playoffs if you go out like that? There's none.

It looked just like the first chicago game only 10X worse on D. I know the dudes were beat up and tired, etc. and we had a backup-backup rb who left early himself after getting his head knocked silly. For that alone, I give them somewhat of a pass. But somewhat went out the door by the end of the first half.

The O and D absolutely sucked yesterday. There appeared to have no gameplan whatsever. Was it like the chic game where we admittedly went in not knowing how good they were and didn't have a backup plan?

How could they not know their D wouldn't shut down SS? Did we believe all the hype that SS is unstoppable and superman and not have a plan B? Did they just believe Jake would go thru the rest of the postseason with some hugemungous rating worthy of the hall of fame? There were three and four dudes on SS, yet the rest of our WRs/TEs couldn't get open? Our O line couldn't open a whole big enough for a mouse yeasterday, and our D like looked weak as hell.

How could they NOT have planned on Seattle throwing short every pass play and run Alexander? It's what they do, yet we seemed to be surprised they did it. Tackling was some of the worst I've ever seen, and it was the NFCC game for christ's sakes! Their dinks and dunks killed us, like we didn't know that's what they were gonna do and didn't have an answer for it- and they sure had and answer for everything we did.

    Outcoached? Hellfukin yes.
    Outplayed? Tremendously.

It's a hard pill to swallow the way they played yesterday, no matter what they've done this season.

Jake does just enough to be slightly above average- and sometimes very good stuff- just enough to almost make you overlook his stoopidity. Cause when he forgets his meds and goes stoopid, he gets stuck there and he's as bad as any of the worst of the worst.

Both Jakes turned out to be fakes yesterday. And the faking is starting to overshine their decentness, imo.

That was the worst O and D playcalling I've seen in recent memory.

I was thinking we were gonna lose for some reason yesterday, and if Seattle was the better team, then so be it- I had convinced myslef it was OK, we had a decent season, getting to where we were, etc. I was proud of them.

But the ones I was proud of seemed to have not known that there was an NFCC game in Seattle yesterday- player and coaches alike. All of them. Or none of them, as it were.

I never saw this team as a lock even for post season. Through all the preseason hype, I was concerned we didn't have a replacement for Moose and both RBs were of questionable health/durability. I saw glimpses of goodness throughout the season but also a lack of consistancy. I was thrilled to make the post season and then delighted with games one and two. Getting that Atlanta monkey off our backs was tremendous to me and no matter what, that will make the lows of the season much easier to deal with.

My husband got lots of crap from Dallas fans today and my response was "Ask them to remind you how many playoff games THEY won this year" I never have bought the insistance of some that they'd rather NOT make the post season then make it and lose - that's just BS. We're still "better then" 28 teams out there and that's impressive no matter where it ended. Even those who are one and done in the playoffs should feel good that they MADE IT. Last night hurt, no doubt about it, but no one is going to make me feel bad about the whole season or the playoffs in general because of one game.

Neither did I, to be honest. The movement of guys on the o-line was concerning, as was the identity crisis at running back. Ironically, I felt good about the rest of our recievers, particularly Colbert - until he pulled a David Duval on us.
