Panthers were getting no discounts...I really don't think there was enough money to keep...I think he would have signed elsewhere for less to be able to leave...JMO

I appreciate Moose's contributions as much as any fan, but I have no problem with him going to the Bears. He is 32, not going to be our #1 rcvr, and will probably play one season in Chicago taking his 16 mil guarantee back to his bank in Charlotte NC when he retires.

Thanks for everything Moose. Best of luck to you.

don't know about that "for less" part but you could have a valid point . . . Moose knows Smitty will be back soon and maybe he wasn't looking forward to the competition for recognition . . . or possibly getting sucker punched in the film room :xyzthumbs

Hey, if we represented well, then we represented well. It's funny, because we let Grant go over a small amount of bonus over a long contract, and that's what sounds like happened here. These Panthers sure ain't gonna pay a lot for this fucking muffler.

Ya know, it's kinda funny. On a seperate thread you said "I'm glad it's Da Bears. I still cheer for him." And now you come out with this FUCK MOOSE bs. Make up your mind, or just leave the guy alone.

Y2's just frustrated. I know he wanted him here.
I'm frustrated, too. It sucks. We'll move on, but knowing this team's structure, this one deals a big blow to what we are.

Yep...but what I'm saying is, now that I've had time to think about it, it just doesn't sit right. All the things we heard from him, his agent, the Panthers, the media...somebody is telling a lie...

I think that liar is Moose & that asshole agent of his that just "happened" to be in Chicago talking to the Bears about Porter at the exact time we cut him.

And all those phone calls from several teams came in and the deal went down within hours? No...I don't buy it. I think they had a deal in place before Moose got cut...long before. His agent sniffed out the other teams, including conversations with Joe Gibbs.

This 10 million dollar roster bonus didn't just come up as a surprise. They knew when they struck the deal last year he was probably on his way out. His agent has been working it all season.

And I'm sorry, but just like that fucking movie...Moose said 'show me the money' and half way through the season when Moose all of sudden became a man possessed, he agent must have said 'help me, help you'

I'm serious, shit went down too fast to throw away all that bullshit about wanting to stay a Panther...Moose wanted out and there was a deal in place way before he got cut...that's what I think

Point taken. With all the different things I've heard, I'm not quite sure who to believe. Odds are, someone is lying. But I guess that's how it usually works.

I really think it boils down to this:

Assuming Smith is healthy (and yes, that's assuming a lot), on this team Moose is a #2 WR. This offense doesn't have a 1a and 1b like STL does. And Hurney offered very decent #2 money.

In Chicago, Moose is unquestionably #1, and was offered not outlandish but above average #1 money.

Moose wanted to be #1. No harm, no foul by either side, really.

    JMO...
