What's more adolescent? Drinking a glass of milk or insulting a player who left because the team couldn't pay what he deserves?

Yes, the milk was out of a glass. My mommy doesn't have to heat up a bottle anymore.

Well it was all about the money. He gave up potential immortality in the league (at least in this area) in order to meet an dollar figure that at the end of the day means very little in how he or his family will be able to lead thier life. His destiny is to be another forgotten player in the NFL.....

Muhammad wastes no time, signs with Bears

    By Darin Gantt The Herald
    (Published February 27‚ 2005)

    By Darin Gantt
CHARLOTTE -- Muhsin Muhammad said he wanted to come back to the Carolina Panthers and told his friends he was holding out hope that he could work out a return.

Less than 12 hours after he was released by the Panthers, he agreed to a multi-year deal with the Chicago Bears.

The Bears moved quickly to land the Panthers' all-time leading receiver, giving him a six-year deal with $12 million worth of guaranteed money, which could be worth up to $30 million.

According to www.ESPN.com, agent Joel Segal hammered out the deal with Chicago around 3 a.m. Saturday. That's roughly 11 hours after the Panthers terminated Muhammad's contract.

While there were various published reports saying the Panthers and Segal were far apart on numbers, sources familiar with the negotiations say that wasn't the case. The Panthers were apparently right at the $10 million in guarantees, while just short of the $5 million per year average.

That casts Muhammad's decision to leave as being about the money -- along with a desire to be a first option instead of sharing the spotlight with Steve Smith.

Why is everybody saying we lowballed him by only offering 3 million then?

    :applause:

....and an '01 pre-season with Jeff Miller the ordained starter

....and the actual '01 season with rookie Chris Weinke as the starter

....and the '02 season with lord help us Rodney Peete as the starter

Marvin Harrison could not have put up numbers in '01 and '02 on our team.

Can't fault him for wanting a big payday - he's a family man afterall, most of us would do the same thing. Loyalty is a great thing, but the nature of free agency is that you're not going to keep many guys for their entire career. If another business I respected offered me more money to leave my current 13+ year place of employment (where I HAVE seniority and am the #1 person) I'd go - in fact there's one not far from home I know I'd go to if they offered a bigger check. Disloyalty? No, I show up every day including days I may be sick (except puking) and I give them 200% every day.

So players who make millions sholdn't quibble over one or two million more? Why not? Got kids? Wouldn't you like to leave them set for life if you're gone? Can't speak for others, but wouldn't it be nice to be able to do charitable things but not have it hurt your life style financially?

Moose gave us everything he had while he was here, he got a better offer elsewhere and took it. I still believe that he DID want to stay but there's no way we're going to pay what he's getting now nor should we. He decided to go for the better payday and THAT doesn't make him wrong. Maybe we made a fair offer, I hope we did, but I'm not going to start bashing a guy I enjoyed having here just because he "didn't love us enough" or he put himself first. There's few here who wouldn't put THEMSELVES first so Moose doing it doesn't suddenly make him evil.

    So it was:

Chicago offer: "The Bears moved quickly to land the Panthers' all-time leading receiver, giving him a six-year deal with $12 million worth of guaranteed money, which could be worth up to $30 million."

up to $5 mil per year, $12 mil guaranteed.

Carolina offer: "While there were various published reports saying the Panthers and Segal were far apart on numbers, sources familiar with the negotiations say that wasn't the case. The Panthers were apparently right at the $10 million in guarantees, while just short of the $5 million per year average."

just under $5 mil per year, right at $10 mil guaranteed.

So much for the "home town discount", huh?
