manning will lose to horn tyring to jam him in the slot 100 times outa 100.

i don't think most teams will try to play press coverage with their weakest DB on the other teams best WR in that situation. short of a running play for little or no gain, most teams i think would love the opponent to complete a short pass in the middle of the field when they need 30 yds with only 25 secs left.

i don't completely fault us having Manning on Horn in that situation. i fault primarily us playing press coverage on the guy in the slot, especially when it's Horn and especially when it's Manning trying to cover him especially given the game situation. it was stupid defense compounded by the expected caliber of play from Manning.

it wasn't a great pass. it was easy pitch and catch to one of the better WRs in the game. Horn was so open i could floated the ball in there. Manning never had a chance to defend that pass. i don't think he had a chance once he pressed up on Horn. best he was gonna do at that point was be close but still not close enough.

btw, collin you are stupid. your argument is stupid. and i can saying that without even having read your post.

We also made ESPN "What were they thinking" TWICE...once for our WRs going out of bounds, and once for a pretty blatant late hit on Brooks that (luckily) wasn't called. Ref was standing right there too.

    No.

Manning actually only plays press well. Whether he's dropped or playing on the line, he's only good getting that big contact early on. That's why he's struggled pretty much all year and all of last year - he can't get the big contact in. So he whiffed at Horn.

So you're blaming the DC for one play, in which we were playing logical, sound, historically backed up technique
let's go back to what a "nickel back" does, and why he's there. He's always on the slot, as has been noted to you time and time again. They lined Horn up there to cause a mismatch. Offenses do that. Guess what? It worked, at least partially because Manning played it poorly the entire way, and the rest because you have an elite level WR on a nickelback, because that's where you play a fucking nickelback.

It's no more complex than that.

I guess this means you weren't waiting for him to appear to make your argument for you [IMG] Case closed. Way to give people ammo.
