i don't think your math is good. don't have the time to spend on it, but on a quick look, Williamson ran the last 20 yds in about 1.64 - 1.70, depending on who you believe. If I just assumed, to be conservative on your side of the argument, that he's not still picking up speed but actually was running as fast at that last as he started 20 yds, then, if so, he ran the last 10 yds in about .82. That's .08 per yd. or 4.5 inches per hundredth. So, if you comparing 4.32 to 4.44 you are talking about well over a yard and a CB losing ground. Even 4.39 to 4.4 is nearly a yard and a CB losing ground and the difference between a WR being covered and not. if a CB has 4.8 speed, Clayton has half a step and needs a nearly perfect ball at his height. Williamson has nearly 2 yds plus presents a taller target, longer arms and more ups ... and a safety has more chance of not being able to get there to help. if i'm looking for a deep threat to keep the safeties honest, Williamson would seem to make much more sense.

on a side note, the site i checked had Williamson running the 20 .02 faster than Clayton (eerh, about the same). i'm pretty sure that site relies on Next Level Scounting for it's info, which i think is a pretty accurate source.

i think if you come out swinging with adjectives like "ridiculous" and "silly" you can expect folks on this board to come back with an attitude. as Mags always likes to scold me, don't whine if ya come to play.

as far as my "ridiculous" comment, i am almost certain that i read that scouts were expecting him to run in the 4.8's as i was disappointed when i saw that and then a happy camper when he ran the 4.4. If i get some time later, I may try to find you the reference.

It's 4.38 against 4.41, and for the record, Clayton and Williamson ran their last 20 yards in an identical 1.77 seconds which suggests that they have a similar top speed. Williamson had 2.61 at the 20 mark, while Clayton clocked in at 2.64. That's three hundredths of a second difference, the same as their final 40 difference. Since they're both cruising at approximately 4.07 inches per hundredth of a second, that means Williamson can get one foot farther than Clayton in those three extra hundredths.

He makes one foot in distance or three inches in height of difference. That's better than nothing, but as mentioned long ago, you'll get far more separation than that with a good release, wiggle, or route.

I don't toss around words like silly and ridiculous unless something is silly and ridiculous. Clayton was never expected to run in the 4.8s. Tight ends run in the 4.8s. Clayton has never been described as slow, and 4.8 would be incredibly slow for a WR. Not even Boldin's infamous 4.76 time was that slow. At worst Clayton would have been expected to run in the 4.5s or low 4.6s, but he didn't.

fine. then you shouldn't have a problem with me tossing around a word like chickenshit when you tell me that you are God and make a prediction and then run back into your corner when asked to put up a wager.

Actually I don't think I misrepresented myself. I mentioned that I've been wrong, but it's a fact that I'm not wrong all that often. Maybe you'd have a beef if plenty of people didn't see me make these predictions beforehand, but they do, and many of those are people who don't particularly like me.

As for the rest, where did I run? I made a prediction and I stand by it. In contrast, I haven't seen one from you.

And what, we're going to keep in touch so that we can come back five years from now and settle the bet one way or another? I know it bothers you, but that darned "silly" word comes to mind again. I think he'll be a bust, you don't. I'm cool with your opinion, you should be cool with mine.

I'm willing to have Sandy unbanned so I can officially collect on the "I bet Dameyune Craig is an NFL - level player in five years" thing...well, maybe not.

Damn Collin, sounds like you're being nice. Kool. I for one have thought your posts are full of substance (whether I agree or not). Welcome back.
