what exactly is the long term benefit of losing smith or keeping Hardy for a year? Is continuing Shula's flawed offensive philosophies going to help us in 2015?

EDIT: To get to my point in a non socratic manner. It's a punchline around here to say the team will go 7-9 and right now we're doing things that all but guarantee that exact result: we didn't bleed the team at 2-14 and now can't build on the success of last year. It's a recipe to stay a middling franchise, the cowboys have been doing it for almost 20 years.

That comment was directed at B&B rather than you, Collin. I admit this because....well....I'll just say it. All my life I've been a foreskin fondling moron who needs to be posting in Preps.

Yeah, it's not just that there is no obvious plan, it's that the moves end up contradicting each other and therefore proving that there is no plan besides Gettleman being Keith Hernandez.

Smith gave us some great memories. X-Clown. Turning into a game-changing NFL player even though he wasn't a top round draft pick. But, his salary overcame his talent in his later years. I would think Collin would be the first to notice this as a fantasy football player and stat guy. If you're a FF guy, his production was usually fairly weak in the last few years (at least in my league). I think we as fans always revert back to his younger years and X-Clown because we love the guy, and the fiery intangibles he always produced made the Carolina Panthers exciting.

Disclaimer: I'm enjoying copious amounts of wine right now.

Fatass made a unilateral decision. It is hard to see how it makes us better. When you look at who was brought in, Smitty would still be atop the pile.

No, it's clearly looking at long term. Five playoff seasons in 19 years is roughly a good season every four years, which is appallingly mediocre. Hurney sucks, Gettleman sucks, Polian sucks, pretty much anyone who's been in charge of running this team has sucked ass. It never changes because our fan base is more than happy to bend over and take it up the ass.

I'll take it a step further. Counting our two 8-8 seasons, the Panthers have only had 7 non losing seasons. That basically means we're not losers once every three years. I guess I'm the only fan who has an issue with that standard.

Don't think so, because until last season, the crowd was thinning and very not into the game. I think it's def. an issue. And they'll vanish pretty quickly if/when we struggle this year.

I also don't think Gettleman will be able to move forward with the fan base without at least telling Smitty "I should have talked to you first". Doesn't even really have to mean it, but the move doesn't save money, and lost a leader & fan favorite. I really think Smitty might even have retired after one more season. So team gained nothing.

As long as the games are sellouts from the PSL shit JR won't care about the empty seats. What he does seem to care about is when people call up radio and write online about what in the fucking fuck are you idiots doing. It just doesn't happen as often as it should.
