    From ESPN Update:

UPDATE: Regarding the marriage between new Broncos coach John Fox and incumbent quarterback Tim Tebow, Michael Lombardi of NFL.com writes: "For Fox, third-and-8 is still a running down. How this will blend with Tim Tebow as the Broncos' quarterback is hard to evaluate." What has separated Tebow from other passers since college is his ability to also make plays in the running game, so perhaps Fox will make plans to exploit this advantage in crafting an offensive focus for the 2011 season.

    ---

There was a minor scandal recently when Denver Broncos executive vice president -- and former Super Bowl-winning quarterback -- John Elway did not appear to unequivocally be in support of Tebow as Elway's second coming as Broncos savior. Elway later clarified his remarks, and it appeared then that the determination on Tebow's future would be left to the team's next head coach and the offensive minds this new HC brought with him.

Now that Fox has been hired for that role, how does this change the situation? According to Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post, Fox was enamored with Tebow during the pre-draft season in 2010, perhaps even more so than with the man the Carolina Panthers wound up drafting, Jimmy Clausen.

Another idea that's made the rounds is that the Broncos would not have hired anyone that didn't have a plan for Tebow as the starter moving forward. So by the fact that Fox got the job, this is an indirect indication that his plans for the team involve No. 15 as his starting QB.

If all of this is true, then it's possible that Kyle Orton will be traded, once trades are permitted under the next collective bargaining agreement. On the other hand, as with the Philadelphia Eagles' possible retention of both Michael Vick and Kevin Kolb, the Broncos may want to keep Orton around as the fallback option, since it's uncertain whether Tebow can be successful as a 16-game starter.
