For the Brady Quinn wanters

athleticism is a nice bonus in a quarterback, it's not the core need or want. In the end, most athletic QBs either have to be successful running around or end up having to forego the athleticism to become an average thrower.

I don't think Russell or Quinn are great, no. If Quinn made more plays, it'd be a lock, but I think he's a better QB.

edit - how many people are putting up a direct correlation between the talent of Russell v/s Quinn based exclusively on this year's ND/LSU game?

 

Texans | Team won't trade up for Quinn

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans will not trade up from the No. 8 spot to select Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn in the NFL Draft. If Quinn were still available when the team selects they likely would not pass Quinn up, however. Team officials insist they are trying to acquire draft picks and not surrender them.

 

There are so many intangibles that go into evaluating a QB. I would be scared to ever take a guy really high.

A couple of the mock drafts I've seen over the last few days show Quinn being picked by the Lions. Makes sense. Kitna is there so Quinn doesn't have to be rushed into the lineup so he'll have to time to adjust to the NFL. But then with Millen directing the draft who knows who he'll pick...
