I was thinking ol George Blanda for the Raiders had drop kicked one back in the day - maybe he tried one and missed.

Damn Blanda kicked ass - placekicker that could come in and win play big at QB

i had a kid on my team in '98 that could drop kick half way decent for an 11 year old. we attempted one after a touchdown once but the kick went off the back of the centers helmet. the refs looked at each other for about 5 seconds and then signaled "no good." nobody saw it coming.
