I'd say there's about a 10% percent chance that they're still alive. That sucks.

Maybe its like one of Fred Smoot's cruises that some of the Vikings took several years ago. That's a good reason for them to be overdue.

    I hope somehow they're okay...

They went out last week too.

But I can't imagine they didn't have a compass on board.

No one knows for sure where they went, they are guessing based on past GPS data.

Coast Guard had to pull back the 45 footer and replace it with an 87 footer.

I hope they find them alive but I agree it seems unlikely at this point. I do not know much about boats and sailing but 21 feet seems awfully small to go that far out to sea. I remember watching a guy from the beach one time in a very small boat. He was maybe a half mile out. As the waves would roll he would bob up and down and go completely out of site then pop back up. I guess it was just the angle I had on him from the beach but still it was kinda spooky.

I'd say they are all a little more chummy right now than when they left port.

Yeah, I'd be worried about sharks. Besides, you don't go that far offshore in a boat that small. It's bad when you're in a 50 foot sportfisher (those are the ones with the tuna towers and outriggers on them) and that joker is rocking back and forth with those huge swells.

I can remember going out when I was 13 in our 37 foot sportfisher a good 10-20 miles offshore when we were heading back in and a storm came up. I remember looking up and seeing those walls of water of about 8-10 feet beside us and tossing the boat while I was tossing my cookies overboard!!! THAT was not a fun trip! Thank God I didn't fall overboard because the first mate had ahold of my belt loops on my shorts to keep me from going over.

CNN reporting as I type that an overturned boat has been found, with one person clinging to it. CNN is not asserting it is THE boat, the news is too sketchy ATP.
