No way is he as complete or as intelligent as M. Faulk. If anyone, I see him comparing favorably to Tomlinson.

I'd consider him a lot more like Deuce McAllister, but without the dynamic physical dimensions. Deuce came in saying he'd return kicks, get some touches. But Deuce's size is greater.

If you want to be a bastard about it, you could compare him to Trung Canidate, though Trung was an inside runner with speed who had no moves and was only hyped so much because of his 40 (I liked him before, but as a return man type backup in the 4th or 5th - 1st is ridiculous).

There's no specific reason that Bush couldn't handle more carries, but the end result is that you still want an open offense where he can thrive on the draw, the sweep, the screen, and being split wide when teams don't have their nickel package in.
And as of right now, the only guys who run an offense like that don't have jobs right now.

It's the Thomas Davis argument for me again, you have a special player, you don't necessarily force him into conventional roles. But you gotta make sure you have the ability to keep him productive in that role, part time or full time.

I'm assuming he does return kicks as part of his duties, which is kinda unprecedented for a top 5 pick outside Deion Sanders.

I am thinking more of a Westbrook type of player myslef. Either way, none of these guys mentioned are exactly chopped liver, so not sure I'd be stoked about a 1st pick selection, but he should be able to ball for someone.

I just think the Texans would benefit more by trading down.

Ooh. Yeah, that's better than my LT comparison. He's definitely more like Westbrook than LT. Good call, Foxman. :xyzthumbs

Well not Faulk now(or a few years ago, I should say), but compared to a Faulk type player and what Faulk was out of college.

I actually think the best comparison is to Michael Vick. Both are stunningly talented athletes who make exciting plays, but there are serious questions about their ability to sustain drives, take a pounding, and win ball-games. Where I think the similarities get most interesting is that Vick and Bush both probably force you to play a certain kind of offense, and prevent you from incorporating certain aspects that you'd probably like to. So it's some great with some bad, and you have to decide whether or not it's worth it. Obviously the money it takes to sign a top five pick puts you in a hole to begin with, so having any doubts about a player's long-term ability to contribute just makes any commitment that much more scary.

That said, if I had the #1 pick and wasn't allowed to trade down, I'm pretty sure I would take Reggie Bush (not for the Panthers, but for some hypothetical team).
