it's been kinda rare for us to activate only 7 DB, I believe. And it'd really suck to have Anderson in street clothes.

True, but like I said, we won't be using dime anymore. Plus last year our 8th active DB was Thomas Davis in a lot of cases, who rarely played safety anyway. Branch can back up both safety spots, and we need roster space more at other positions. As for Anderson, where we would use him if activated? He won't be in on nickel as long as Morgan is healthy, and Adams is more valuable on special teams.

They'd talked about getting Anderson in on nickel, and have used him in 3-3 formations in preseason. Either way, Anderson's a lock, and Adams isn't. 'course, I said it'd suck to have him in street clothes, moreso than that it's impossible.

True, Davis did fill that role at times, but it rang true for years before that as well. We almost always had 4 CB and 4 S out there. If we kept only 8 DB, I'd expect they'd all dress.

As for dime package, somewhat fair point with Davis, but Bush wouldn't be playing the dime anyway. If he were there, he'd be inactive, and even if for some reason we activated 5, one of the top four would be in dime.

Personally, I believe the top four we have at DT are good enough to get us through a full season without a 5th on roster. If we were to stash one, I'd rather stash an extra end, which IMO would be McClover inactive. Moorehead being FA next year, and only Brown having any forseeable future, the top four DTs will all still be under contract next year.

Only a couple of times and only when the starters were out. Anderson has no place to play with Morgan healthy, so it makes no sense to keep him active over someone who is far more of a contributor on special teams. Seriously, making Anderson active would just be a waste of a spot because he wouldn't be used. That's pretty obvious. He's there both for the future and in case one of our LBs gets injured, at which time they'd be inactive and he'd be active.
Usually, yes, but I already pointed out that we probably won't be running the dime anymore. Plus none of the guys are a special teams ace, so they again would not be useful if activated. The exception would be Bush, but even then it would be very unusual for us to have 5 CBs active.
He wouldn't unless we had injuries, which is what makes him of questionable value to the team. He just wouldn't see the field except on special teams, and as mentioned above, you almost never see a 5th CB activated to be on special teams. Plus I think Bush is about the least likely cut to be picked up by another team, so he'd be a safe stash on the practice squad like Wilds last season, and could be brought up if we have injuries.

Special team linebackers: Draft, Seward, and Adams.

Anderson hasn't done anything on special teams to distinguish himself, so it will be hard for him to earn an opening day uniform. We all know he'll be activated at some point, though.

Adams is a bit better ST player because of experience, but you've been in favor of cutting the better ST player before (Hankton, though your position may not be that he's a better ST player oddly enough). To me, Adams is the 7th LB, but I wouldn't initially keep him. He'll be out there.

We traditionally haven't run a ton of dime, and as I noted Bush doesn't figure in the dime anyway.
Wesley mostly played during injuries and special teams. We rarely play backup safeties, but they still suit and play ST. I'd just be surprised if we activated only 7 and "dime" has very, very little to do with it. In this situation, it seems you may be arguing against Bush being inactive, but I'm arguing in favor of Salley being active, which has plenty of ST value.

IMO, it'd be a waste to not suit him at least most of the time. Especially if he's playing ahead of Adams. But it's not that Adams doesn't have plenty of value.

The thing is, not only is a better special teamer than Hankton has ever been, but he's a better LB than Anderson too. James has looked good and I'm glad about that, but Adams is still superior in every respect. Adams has been a starter in this league and is actually the best coverage linebacker we have.
    Over who, though?

Anderson will suit up. Ill put money on it.

Furthermore, I dont believe Adams will make the team. He, like McCadem were brought here for depth reasons along with their STs prowess. Oddly, I dont think either will make the cut. I could be wrong, though....regardless, Anderson will suit.
