Then why do they allow anyone male or female in the locker rooms if the players are going to be undressed? Why can't the press wait until they are done getting dressed?

After NFL games, there is a 10-minute cooling off period, during which the locker room is closed to the media. This period often lasts longer, sometimes significantly so. By the time we enter the room, some players -- often including Chris Cooley, for example -- are already showered and changed. There is also a private training room for players who'd like more privacy, plus the shower area.

It just seems like this should be a non issue. If players only met with the press once they are dressed then this would probably never happen again. Easy fix, do not let reporters in until all the players are dressed. It has happened every few years for a long time. I remember it happening with the Pats back in the 80s.

um, black dudes don't like putting their clothes back on. evidently they need like 30 minutes to let their junk dry out, or they just like to be nekkid with eachother.

I'm not sure the reporters want it that way, they have deadlines to make after the game and getting to the players ASAP gives them a chance to catch them all pissed off and talking about how no one has any god damned PASSION- that shit is gold.

I've been a freelance reporter for a pretty big publication for 7 years now. Cover HS Football for the most part, as well as Furman and Clemson FB.

The most stressful part of being a reporter (even a contractor) is the post-game shit. Finding the coach, getting the quotes, fitting quotes into the storyline, and-yes-meeting a deadline. I missed my first deadline 3 weeks ago. Wasn't a fun experience getting my ass chewed.

If they kept all reporters out then everyone would have to wait and no one would get an early scoop. If I run the NFL I do not want pissed off players giving quotes in the locker room.

And if you're the media outlets responsible for driving the popularity and sizzle of the NFL, this is a horrible idea. So, it works two ways.
