As much as I dislike Vick, this still needs to go through the courts. Pacman and Henry were both suspended for repeated incidents that broke clauses in their contracts. Vick has only been indicted at this point. Plus it's more fun to have this hanging over Atlanta's neck for the season.

I think its been said before, but the feds have a 95% winning percentage when people are indicted. His ass is screwed.

Added to that he lied to Goodell and said he knew nothing about it. An indictment may not prove his direct involvement, but its enough to show he did have the knowledge it was going on.

On a side note, 34k for that land was a helluva deal.

Thanks for that link Pitch. Maybe Goodell won't wait for an actual conviction to crackdown on Vick. I would have to assume that the commissioner will act for the best of the NFL as a whole. Since federal prosecutors will “do their thing” regardless of how it may adversely affect the NFL then Goodell will likely feel even more compelled to try and protect his best interest. Wouldn’t most in his position assume that Vick would be less of a distraction to their team and the NFL if they are not on the field? I’m starting to feel like Vick will eventually get some sort of suspension with conditional pay (based on the findings of a trial). My current hope is that Vick is allowed to hang around just long enough to throw a big enough wrench into the works to keep Petrino and a new system from getting comfortable.

I was listening to NPR this morning and they were saying that dogs with poor performances were killed outside of the ring by some fucked up means. One being doused with water and then electrocuted to death.

While most of the dog killings noted in the indictment were allegedly carried out by the other defendants, Vick himself participated in the killings of eight dogs in April, according to the indictment. The animals were killed "by various methods, including hanging, drowning and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground," the indictment said :hanged: :hanged: :hanged:

I just want to hear how loud the "boos" are when he steps on the field.

Really depends on the state of morality/behavior clauses in the NFL player contracts these days. I haven't kept up, but they used to be add-ons to the standard form that all players sign. I think they were recently integrated into the standard form though. For example, check this discussion of "behavior" and "morality" clauses re: Terrell Owens last year:

The decision would be Atlanta's, per that description. Sounds like it's vague enough to give them a lot of lattitude.

Atlanta could suspend him with pay because they're his employer, but the NFL would have a much more difficult time with it, especially if the union disagrees. And they have essentially no ability to not pay him unless he is convicted.
