I read the details of the indictment. Somewhere around 60-70 itemized instances, many involving people known to the grand jury. It doesn't look good, if these are "counts" he ain't gonna get out of all of them.

They got dates, locations, names of dogs, methods of how some of the dogs were killed.

And Clayton's been saying all along that Vick will play 2007, so I guess he's married to that position. He may be right.

I almost hope they let him play because it's gonna be murder on him even at home. If I was him I'd just get popped for weed so they'd have to suspend me, and go hide somewhere.

The "conspiracy" charges means that they don't have to prove it happened only that they were trying to make it happen via "overt acts."

The indictment does apparently alledge that he traveled across state lines, which makes their job easier, but he didn't have to do that for the Feds to come after him. Simply using the mail can get you. Committing the crime using any aspect that substationally affects interstate commerce can get you indicted on Federal charges.

Ooops, I think vpkozel just got wood.

It's only one charge pf conspiracy though. They are saying that Vick committed conspiracy to do these crimes, using interstate commerce. They just have to prove the planning of the events.

Damn, nevermind what I said earlier. SI's account of the indictment says that they have multiple cooperating witnesses who testified to Vick purchasing dogs, executing ones that performed poorly, and paying out purses to winners of fights. If this is described accurately, 2007 is probably his last year in the NFL, and this sounds like he could get some legitimate jail time.

I'm not sure he plays. The only thing like this is the Kobe rape trial, and that, like many sexual assalt cases, was "he said/she said."

There is more evidence here of the crime, and people, particuarly pet owners, will have more emotional investment. He's radioactive to the league right now.

Yeah, I can't open pdf files, but I've heard from many who've read the specific indictment "papers" that there's been some major investigation and fact finding going on and surprisingly it's been pretty tight lipped up to the last because no one really expected Vick to "get dirty" when it all came to light. But they've got specifics about this dog was drowned, this one shot, this one strangled, and on and on.

The best hope for Vick is if the lawyers can stall long enough for him to get through part/all of the season. There's just no way he comes out of this unscathed. While the league has to let justice run it's course, Vick and by association the Falcons are going to catch heat this season even from within their own fan base. I've already seen multiple posts on non football sites from Falcon fans calling Vick the scum of the earth and worse. One Falcon fan wants to sneak in some sort of tape/music player and play Who Let the Dogs Out and he sits right at the Falcons team entrance tunnel. :laugh3:
