    It will be kicked from the 20 yard line for the first two preseason games, as an experiment.


    They're also raising the uprights five feet.

    The most obvious flaw is that a FG from inside the 20 will be worth more than a kick from the 20. That's just stupid as shit. I think I'd rather just have them replace the XP with a one point conversion attempt from the one yard line, and move two point attempts back to the five. Or something along that line. I do agree with the premise that the extra point has become a non-competitive play.

    I like rare things. Missing the XP, or having one blocked, is rare. Like Kris Jenkins fucking TB out of a sure win in '03.

    Belichick made the point that they're practically impossible to block now. Unless a kicker screws up and kicks it low like Gano in Miami.

    Which would go right along with rare. Practically impossible, probably applied in '03 too.

    The extra point is some gravy you get with the 6 for the TD. If they wanted to devalue the FG too I might approve. After all, a 35 yard FG isn't nearly as hard to get as it used to be either. Or just give 7 for a TD and be done with it.

    At some point you just need to stop fucking with the game, I think. If it ain't broke....

    No, they pussified the rules on kick attempts to protect long snappers since Jenkins' block, so it really is almost impossible to get through now.
