This was a really interesting read, although it could be 100% bullshit and all that's really important is hand size:

    https://medium.com/@thetim_dix/nfl-draft-how-strong-is-joe-burrows-arm-b69abd897399

But assuming that the author is correct, he's grading QBs on arm strength, release quickness, and anticipation. In this draft, Jordan Love has the strength, Tua the quickness, and burrow the anticipation.

For comparison, Jordan Love is on par with Carson Wentz on arm strength, Tua is faster than Marino on release quickness, and Burrow is the fastest at trigger time in the last several years. OTOH, Love is awful at anticipation and has a slow release. Tua and Burrow don't have a ton of strength, with Tua being particularly poor here, and Burrow has a middling release time. Herbert is middling in release time and launch velocity, and just below average in anticipation.

Which of the three would you pay the most attention to in evaluating a QB? In a Brady system, I think Burrow just showed us how important anticipation is, but bear in mind just one MPH in velocity can mean the difference between the safety successfully jumping a mid-range route and a big play. And the quicker the release, the less time that safety has to begin his movement.

    Interesting stuff

    Anticipation. Release. Power.

I'd put ball placement in there too but he can't frame fuck youtube videos and kinematic equations to get that.

A one mile per hour decrease in velocity on a twenty yard pass equates to just a 12 millisecond delay in arrival time. It's not until you get to 5 or 10 mph differences that there is enough lag to impact the outcome of a play. Accuracy, field awareness, and release are the main ingredients for good quarterback play.
