Decipher this for me. Does this mean we got him for $2.5 mil if the details in this article are right?

    http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/sports/football/5384519.htm

Canter said the deal was worth $15.5 million and includes a $2.5 million signing bonus and another $500,000 bonus for reporting to training camp. With incentives, the value of the contract could exceed $36 million, he said.

You are correct, both of you. He's guaranteed 2.5, but COULD make up to 4.1 this year.

Scouting report from The War Room on Davis

: Is quicker than fast. Shows good burst to the hole. Has deceptive speed and can challenge for the corner, but has lost a half step the past two years and doesn't win many footraces. Is most comfortable running north/south, getting 20-plus carries per game. Is powerful with good lower-body strength and leverage. Davis is also an adequate pass protector. He has good size, attacks the point with good leverage and has enough quickness to slide and pick up blitzing linebackers. He isn't much of a receiving threat, however. Davis can still be a 25-to-30 carry NFL back, but he needs to find a better fit than Washington was.

How many games before he breaks the Panther's single season rushing record? 11 or 12 probally. I don't know what the record is but, I guess Anthony Johnson has it.

    >> Is Marty Hurney SHREWD yet?

i guess i'll forever be remembered for hat argument..

imo, the jury is still out. we still don't have a receiver that i have any faith in and our QB is unproven. we have managed to sign a has-been, banged up running back that's lost at least a step and a backup OL to replace a guy i tought did a pretty solid job last year. other than that we don't have anybody that even remotely resembles a TE or a RT and only one guy that somewhat vaguely resembles a FB.

but yeah i'm an optimist and am kinda getting caught up in the euphoria of everythng that's been ging on. again this year, he's done nothing stupid, which in of itself is something to get excited about ... especially in pantherland. he's moved up just a tad in my book from being just a dickless nunber cruncher to possibly being a half-decent GM. i'm reserving judgement though till after the draft. at this point i would still not name a child after him.
