Erstad / Estrada Train Wreck

Whats your opinion?

 

Good play, I wish more guys would do it. The way catchers block the plate you almost have no choice but to run them over.

 

That's total crap. IF a catcher is blocking the plate, then sure they should run them over because a lot of them block it before they have the ball, which they're not supposed to. But replays clearly show that Estrada was not yet blocking the plate. His right foot was beside the plate and his body was clearly away from the plate getting ready to catch the throw. It would have been easy for Erstad to score without even touching Estrada, he just wanted to be a dick and run him over.

And for the record, I'd drill Erstad every time he came up to bat for the rest of the series.

 

That was Dirty play 100%.Sure Erstad try to score at some he some he did not care if Estrada would have to come out of the game do to injury

 

So it's three Braves fans saying it was a dirty player and the rest not being Angels or Braves fans saying it was clean. My take is Ersted would have been out had the throw been slightly higher and it's the runners job to break up the catch at the plate.

 

It was a bullshit play. Estrada wasn't blocking the plate or the line. Cox should have brought their hardeest thrower up from teh minors tonight and drilled Erstad right in the ribs.

 

Guerrero messed up his shoulder trying to slide around a catcher at the plate a few weeks ago so I'd bet that the Angels atleast talked about how their approach going into home. The throw was offline and that caused Estrada's injury more than anything because he prepare himself for it but that doesn't make it Erstad's fault. I don't even have a problem with the Braves getting mad and throwing at him either but to me it was a good play.

 

Exactly. Just a tough play. Plus catchers are nuts to start anyway

 

what was even worse than the play was the completely pussified retaliation.

 

i heard about that. i bet the angels got really scared and decided to put up a snowman (thats 8 runs for people like math and vg ) so they could get outta town quickly last night.
