A little background: I first read the Sherlock Holmes books when I was a teenager. It wasn't a school project or something I was made to do. I read for personal pleasure. After reading the adventures, the cases, the mysteries. I couldn't seem to get enough. Anything Sherlock related I made it a point to indulge. I researched Conan Doyle and gathered as much fiction and nonfiction about him as I could. I know he grew to despise what he had created in Holmes. Fans were like me and couldn't get enough, but like all things it had to come to an end. I watched all the movies, the TV series and enjoyed them all whether they were good or not.
Then in 2012 a TV series was created that had a modern version of Holmes and Watson. Elementary was a Liberal leaning, set in NYC with Watson as former surgeon turned sober companion that just happened to be a woman of Asian decent/ Over the time of the series she ended up giving more depth and character to Watson than any book, tv series or movie had given. Things the series did I didn't always agree with or like, but endured because overall I liked the show. Mrs. Hudson of old was not an amazon looking tranny.
Holmes' arch nemesis Moriarty in the series turns out to be the love of his life Irene Adler. Yep, a few things I didn't care for, but the writing was good, the murders were clever and the main characters made waiting for the next episode agonizingly slow. That's why bingeing it is great and no ads makes it flow so much smoother. It ran for almost 7 seasons to 2019. I recommend you watch it and try to guess the killer.
