Just looking at the holes on our team safety seems like the best place go in round one. None of the available free agents look like big upgrades to me and even if we do sign one of them Minter is going to be done soon so it would still be smart to add a guy. At linebacker we have some good young players on the squad already. Adding another in the draft would make us very young at the position. Assuming they are going to keep Morgan and re-sign Draft then they may just stand pat. If we do anything for the OL it would be better to add a veteran. We have young guys to compete.

If we can get Landry or Nelson in round one that would fill an immediate need and allow us to go BPA the rest of the draft.

Isn't Hamlin extremely injury prone? Or am I thinking of Herdon?

Brohm probably deserves to go in the middle of the first round. He's a better pro prospect than Brady Quinn, as he has sound mechanics, a good arm, and makes good decisions with the ball. He's also more mobile than he's shown since he's recovering from that ACL. I don't see him as a system quarterback and he really shouldn't even be mentioned in conjunction with LeFors since they have almost nothing in common except their college.

If Landry goes before us, I could see Brohm happening although I wouldn't view it as likely. I like Landry better as a pro prospect than Nelson, although both are good. I just doubt that Fox would sign on to someone like Nelson who is a ballhawk but not the biggest safety. I'm not a fan of Griffin and definitely wouldn't want us taking him at #14, but I would be fine with Meriweather at #48.

Levi Brown is mediocre at best, so no to him. Willis would be fine at #14, but we could just as easily get Harris in the second or hope that Buster Davis fell to that spot. We could even take Anthony Waters in the middle rounds, as he'll be discounted thanks to the ACL.

I also got around to my Clemson review and Gaines Adams is not a first round DE in my opinion. He's a good pass rusher but ass against the run. Same for Moses.

I do like Tank Tyler a lot, but not at #14 and we can't spend a first rounder on a DT anyway.

Landry would seem to be the only obvious fit for us at #14, so let's hope he makes it.

I would really rather not go DE in round one. I know Rucker might be done or gone but we have guys we can use to fill that spot on the roster already. I think Lewis would be better as a DE than as a DT anyway. He could be an every down player at DE. We also have Wallace and Mcglover who can pass rush. If anything all we need is a DE who can play the run well to pair up with those two guys.

Three of the many things that irritate me about Thelt:

    • He takes things that I've said and passes them off as his own ideas (Lewis being a better fit as a DE). Hell, I bet he doesn't even realize that he got the idea from me, but he does it all the time.
    • While he thinks enough of some statements to steal them, he won't listen when I prove him wrong about something.
    • He can't spell McClover.

The last one is most troublesome.

I've seen Charles Johnson, the DE out of UGA, taken in the 10-20 spot in a few mock drafts. Also, Jamaal Andersen out of Arkansas would be a possibility at DE. Any thoughts on either of those guys?

Are you thinking about Quentin Moses? He's the DE from Georgia being considered for a first round pick, but he had a bad senior year and isn't strong against the run. I haven't gotten around to looking at Arkansas closely yet, but it does seem like Anderson has flown up the charts.

No I'm talking about Charles Johnson. Hes an underclassman that has declared. I've watched a fair amount of UGA and Ark. games but haven't really focused on either of the players. I think it was NFL draft blitz that had Charles Johnson somewhere in the 10-20s. I used to look at that site a lot when it was free but haven't recently until my friend gave me a password to it. Who knows if Johnson's that good of a prospect, but he's at least worth a look.
