Duct Cleaning

    No need probably. I would check to make sure the ducts are properly sealed and insulated before I would clean them. If they're in really bad shape just get some new ones.

    I gotta 80 year old house and I cleaned 'em bitches when I found out my kid had heinous allergies.

    General school of thought is that these are total scams. You can't clean the in-wall ones thoroughly, you're more apt to break loose additional stuff and create more air-crud than help. The exposed ducting is MUCH cheaper to simply replace...

    If allergens are a concern, invest in air cleaners, but even these are a rip off at the prices they charge. We have an in-line super-allergenic washable set of filters, followed by in-line electrostatic air-filters to trap pollens that make it through the filters, and there's an in-duct UV light to kill germs and such. Something like $1k, totally obscene, but my woman was freaked out as my father and hers have terrible asthma.

    A friend had a kid with serious allergies, had a whole-house air cleaning system put in for like $5k...nuts.
