Seahawks agree to five-year deal with RB Duckett

ESPN.com's Matt Mosley, Mike Sando and Pat Yasinskas are following the NFL free-agency frenzy and sharing their thoughts. Get the latest news from the always updated Hashmarks.

DETROIT -- T.J. Duckett is heading to play for the Seattle Seahawks with a five-year contract, the free agent running back told The Associated Press on Tuesday night.
Duckett, who played for the Detroit Lions last season, has 2,642 career rushing yards and 36 TDs.
He previously played for the Redskins and the Falcons, who selected him 18th overall in the 2002 NFL draft after running for 3,379 yard at Michigan State.
When he wasn't slowed by injuries, Duckett was productive in limited opportunities in Detroit's pass-happy offense. Last season he carried the ball 65 times for 335 yards.

I dunno if Duckett would have worked here. Injury issues (nagging, keep him on the injury report a lot, not career threatening or anything) made him (IMO) less attractive.

Do you guys HONESTLY think DeAngelo is ready to be a 20-25 carry per game running back? Even at 20 carries, for his size, he's gonna get banged up pretty hard.

If he's not ready now he's never gonna be, and I think we're going to find out for better or worse. To answer your question, yes.

I don't see why it's obvious that he can't. He's not that small. He's pretty heavy for his height and has gotten noticably bigger since he's been here.

I don't know about it being OBVIOUS. I would hate for the Panthers to pin their number 1 RB job to a guy that may not be physically durable enough to handle it. Not because he won't prepare (which I imagine DW will come to camp as big as he can be), but because of the physical nature of huge dudes tackling a not-so-huge RB.

He may be the RB fans have wanted all along. I do see where giving him the chance is good, but I would hate it in week 3 to hear Williams has shoulder/knee/back/ name your injury issues that have him questionable/doubtful for 13 more games after that.
