technically isn't the 4-3 NT just the guy who lines up between C and G on the weak side?

No, NTs line up over center jenkins did it plenty of times which is part of why everyone loved his offsides penalties.

    Don't like it, inside anyway.

We don't need one because we don't have a fat guy, we need one because Hayden is at the top of the depth chart.

Anyway, guys that can clog the middle tend to be pretty big.

"I took a look at the depth chart and the coaches were telling me about how they really needed a nose guard and how they wanted me to come in and compete," Favorite said. "It seemed like the perfect opportunity, so I didn't hesitate."

In a 3-4, yes. In the 4-3, not so much?

    http://football.calsci.com/DefensiveLine.html

Normally in a 4-3 you will have on very large DT who weighs about 330 to 360 pounds. He will line up on the Center's shoulder and handle an A gap. This large guy is called a Nose Tackle

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nose_tackle

In a traditional 4-3 defensive set, the nose tackle is one of two defensive tackles, usually on the weak side of the offensive line. His job is to take up the center and weak-side or pulling guard so that the smaller 'rush' end has a 1-on-1 matchup with the offense's blindside tackle.

    http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1208/is_42_228/ai_n6249316/pg_4/

The 4-3 nose usually is offset from the center and has more freedom to penetrate upfield and be a playmaker.

Not every 4-3 uses one of it's DTs as a NT or even the 4-3 variety of NT. I'm sure we have utilized that alignment some but I never heard of our DT referred to as one ever before until Kemo went down. It just seems like it would have come up ihere in the past 7 years.
