Come out of day 1 going FS/DE/MLB and I'm happy with the value.

. . . But I will bet that our FO will continue to do just that. The fact that they are shopping Jenkins is a sign to me that they are thinking seriously about DL on day one. Unless our entire FO suffers from concussion syndrome too they HAVE to be thinking LB on day one also. I am also willing to bet that a WR (or even a TE!) will get consideration on day one over a safety prospect. Some SOB(s) with pull is cocky enough to believe that the Panther defensive philosophy is so rock solid that a 48 yr old Minter and just any ol’ douche can cover “the last line of defense.

maybe not (though it's entirely they go with the "best available douche" option). As for the DL, they needed an end regardless. I don't think Jenkins theoretically gone makes it more likely as much as it would force us to need more.

    Walter Thomas

What does the 2005 NFL Draft have similar with the 2007 NFL Draft? There were/are two players from a community college that were/are major NFL Prospects. In the 2005 NFL Draft, Larry Brackins was from Pearl River Community College and was drafted in the 5th round (19th pick) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brackins tested positive for steroids and is not on the Bucs roster currently. This year in the 2007 NFL Draft there is a monster defensive tackle named Walter Thomas from Northwest Mississippi Community College. Thomas weighed 6' 5" 370 pounds at the Texas vs. Nation All-Star game, and can reportedly run in 4.8-4.9 range. He was heavily recruited, but left Oklahoma State early in his college career. Thomas Played in only two games this year for his tiny Community College, but completely and utterly dominated those games with 16 tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 4 sacks. Thomas is only a junior, so this young man has a lot of upside. He has been all the talk recently among NFL Scouts, and I have even heard some say he could be drafted as early as the 5th round in the 2007 NFL Draft.

Here's another angle at it, and only because I'm trying to justify what I think enevitably is going to be the pick, and assuming we trade Jenkins.

What if we put Carriker at RDE to start the season while Rucker recovers, once Rucker is ready to go we can switch Carriker inside to replace Jenkins. this buy's us a year to see what we have in McClover.

I'm still hoping that Anderson falls.

I just read somewhere that Carriker wasn't allowed to make plays in the D Nebraska played. He was supposed to plug things up for the LBs. He still doesn't have speed around the end, but he might make plays at DT in our scheme, as he did in the Senior Bowl.

BTW, Carriker may be gone too.

that'd make more sense - but in the end we're still drafting yet another guy in the top 15 to supposedly increase his value by inevitably moving him to a spot he may or may not fit at. That'd make it a cycle - every two years.
