we need guys who can just make things happen. That's not what I'm contesting. What I'm contesting is that we draft the most pedestrian player possible at 14, a la Jordan Gross.

Carriker is a hype machine. He's one of those "motor" guys and people watched the Senior Bowl when they didn't watch a lick of Nebraska film. He's not as good of a fit. He's not the "can't miss" player that other guys at 14 are. He doesn't even surpass Willis there.

That didn't change regardless of Jenkins.

I disagree. There are guys expected to be at 14 that aren't just "solid".

How many offensive linemen are "playmakers"?

He will surpass and be drafted ahead of Moss and Nelson

If we don't have Jenkins the need has increased for someone to keep the pressure off of Peppers. Carstens has medical issues. I sure didn't hear a lot of praise for Kemo this year.

We don't get rid of Kris Jenkins for a 2nd so we can reach for a slow end with a first. We had a need at end and we still have a need at end. We don't make the move at DT without knowing we have three guys who have started.

And he might go ahead of Moss or Nelson. Then you'll jump around and be happy for your guy. I want this team's needs taken care of, I don't have vested interest in a player.

    Ginn
    Nelson
    Olsen
    Lynch
    potentially Moss

    None.
And most top 10 lineman are better than Gross, if they don't flame completely out. Guys like Tra Thomas, Levi Jones, that's what you generally want out of a top ten. You don't expect Orlando Pace, no.

Actually if I jump around because we picked him it would probably be because he was the BPA. He did have better stats across the board every year over Moss. Nebraska plays some pretty good Olines as well. He gets to the QB, so no he's not a reach at 14.

he got to immobile big 12 QBs, because he was strong. His first step isn't actually that good and most everything even Thelt could read says that he's never going to be an outside rusher. We already have guys who are "solid". At 14 I expect more. I get that you dig this guy, but same argument holds as the last few times you've made threads lobbying for Carriker.
