One thing that you noted is the job the Oline did for him. That he always seemed to have holes to run thru. He simply wasnt getting hit at the LOS.
And you do see that on all his highlights. But i heard a stat recently that was very encouraging that he could get the job done with a less than stellar Oline. The stat was that he had 900+ yards AFTER contact last year.

 

True, but remember that a lot of that contact came in the form of arm tackles by undersized linebackers and defensive backs. I see a lot of T.J. Duckett and even Mike Alstott in White, because I just don't think he has the lateral quickness or acceleration to deal with backfield penetration. When he can get up a head of steam, he's going to run with tremendous power, but I think we'll have problems putting him in that situation (because of our blocking style and constant use of lead plays) where a team like Pittsburgh might not.

 

One more thing regarding Mario Williams:
Watch the highlights ESPN keeps showing. In all the sacks they've shown, only once did he actually beat a tackle (and whoever that Maryland RT was had embarrassingly slow foot speed). The other times he's completely unblocked against FSU, the Southern Miss QB rolls into him, and another team tried to block him with a running back. It's hard to dislike a guy who has those physical measureables, but he just doesn't look anything like a football player to me. He doesn't play to his size at all.

 

Right, Davis was shifty enough to avoid defensive penetration sometimes . . . Is that something White could develop? He probably would be a better fit for Pitt.

 

I would have thought LenDales quick feet would enable him to do so.

 

When people talk about LenDale's "quick feet," they're talking about his ability to step over attempts to wrap up his ankles, or to change direction when he already has momentum. His stop/start ability is very poor, which is not at all surprising for someone that fat.

 

Me too. His game time attitude seems to be good. Its his at home attitude that's poor. Sometimes if someone has a good attitude sometimes, he can learn to have that attitude in more situations, as he grows up, and as he's told its expected. Its the guys who never have a good attitude who are usually hopeless.

At least if we get him, we will probably have traded down 1st.

Oh, and Jaws just said on ESPN that he projects Kellen Clemens to be the best QB out of this draft, so magnus can suck my nuts (again?) on that one too. :supergrin
