 If only you had conducted this discussion with reason instead of deception and petty insults. You wanted this to be a fight, and it's only through my restraint that it hasn't gotten ugly.
Ray Lewis, who is around the same age, also wanted a truckload of new money this off-season from the Ravens. Did he get it? No. Why? Because teams generally don't pay huge amounts for players in their twilight years.
See, that is just an outright lie, and that's what I have a problem with. You're actually lying about what you "know" and what is "guaranteed" because you want to win this argument that badly. Witherspoon got barely more than that when he is 7 years younger, but you want people to believe that it's "almost guaranteed" that Edwards will get that amount at age 33 (or 34 if he plays to free agency next year)?
Wrong. We've all seen numerous articles about how fake the end numbers of a contract often are, and we've all discussed how much "real money" is in a signing. Players want guaranteed money because they know they probably won't see all the money in whatever contract they sign. Yes, Edwards and anyone else usually will carry a much lower base in the first year of their contract, in part because they're paid all their signing bonus up front. They don't count on seeing the last base years, however.
You're being deceptive again. That isn't "all you said." In fact, the specific quote that started this line of argument was your statement that: "Certainly. That doesn't make it true, or impending. Guys leak things to the press all the time to position themselves to teams that are actually interested. Remember Willis McGahee?" You were trying to downplay the possibility because you didn't like the idea, which is odd considering that you created the thread yourself.
No, it's not a problem if that was all you did. I applauded Thelt's statement, for instance, but I do have a problem with you pretending I've said things that I haven't, and with you making guarantees about how much money Edwards will get in a transparent attempt to make more people side with you.
That's exactly what I did, magnus, which is what makes your hissy fit so amusing/annoying. The specific quote was: "Think of him as Derrick Brooks, since they're the same age and play very similarly. Would you trade a third and take on $3.5 mil in salary for Derrick Brooks?"
Except that Mangold wasn't a reach by anyone else's estimation. Not only was he taken in the late first, but he was supposedly rated there by most teams. Once you found that out, you stopped talking about where you had rated him and started using the funny spelling because you had no other defense for your rabid dislike for the guy.
I got pissed off at the hypocrisy. Hypocrisy drives me absolutely insane. When PP or someone takes a shot at me, I snap back, but when someone has a pattern of complaining about me starting fights and me being insulting, only to then start fights with me by being insulting, that irritates the hell out of me. I can respect an asshole, but hypocrites are pretty low on my list of human beings. If you will agree to not complain when I'm insulting or start a fight with you, I promise I will never have an issue with you doing the same to me. You choose which way you want it, but then you have to live with that decision.

there's no way that you can honestly look at the things you say about people who disagree with you, and say that "fanboy" is on the same level. But, as I said, it's a shame you can't be real without the natural restraint that everyone else has.

No. I was suggesting that no one else in the major news has picked it up, so it was likely less true for that reason. It barely made blogs. If it were a story, ESPN would be all over it. I couldn't even find it on PFT. That I made a thread has no relevance on what I want to do in this 'trade'. You find news, you post news. You don't decide not to post news because you don't like it.

The oddest thing is that the only things you've really got here to bitch about are "fanboy" (oh, the horror), $5 million/year (which all you have to argue here is "age", and the league has consistently shown that they'll pay for top talent), and going back and rehashing every argument you and I have ever had that you still have a bad taste in your mouth about. Which is what this is really about, I guess. I've jilted you. Fanboy. :bananalam

Dude, I'm showing tons of restraint in this thread. I could have opened up on you at any point, and I probably should have because me insulting you is the quickest way to get you to abandon an argument, but I wanted to make a point about your hypocrisy.
Your opening post: "ESPN's Jeremy Green states that it's fairly reliable info that the Panthers contacted the Chargers about Edwards' availability."

They clearly want to trade him, and we just freed up a lot of cap room. I've said all along that it doesn't necessarily mean we're going to make any moves, but that's more than enough reason to speculate. You just soured on the idea and then wanted people to stop talking about it.
Nah, it's about you choosing to obliterate the relative peace between us and return things to the way they were. I imagine you'll end up regretting that decision.

In a chat room. I've not found it in print anywhere and it's barely made blogs, which will post almost anything. Where it's posted, it's dismissed as ridiculous.

I've not seen anybody report it since, have you? I found a tidbit. I posted it. All along, it's been a dumb thing for you to rail on. Why would I post it only if I wanted us to do it?

I don't and never wanted anyone to stop talking about it. The things you create in your mind when you're angry are astonishing. Suddenly I'm trying to cover up that Green said that? No. I'm trying to stop people from talking about it? That's stupid. Maybe if I bold it and then say it in italics - I'm not trying to stop people from talking about it - now we'll stop arguing about this conspiracy theory where I'm trying to mislead people.

I'm saying I wouldn't make the trade. I'm stating a reasonable demand that Edwards will initially bring to the table in negotiations. I'm not trying to do anything to anybody else.

Ugh. Be a man. I called you a fanboy. If that's "obliterating the peace", then never pretend I exaggerate. If all you did was say one little thing like that at any of the people you regularly bitch, whine, and grudge at, you probably wouldn't go around with idiots biting at your ankles.

You take this more than a bit too seriously. It's almost disturbing.
