No, no, and probably not. Diggs' sprain isn't that serious, but he has a history of them and isn't the most durable of guys in general. It's not this injury that they'd worry about, but rather the next one. And Adams had consistently played well in games and camp, but he's really more of a situational linebacker than a starter. I think that confusion is why people ignorantly talk about him as if he's been some kind of disappointment. And while I think Edwards can play MLB in a 4-3, it's obviously not ideal. In any case, Edwards is basically a very good player at the tail end of his career in the last year of his contract, and would just continue to upgrade what we already have. Honestly I don't have the slightest clue why San Diego is so dead set on trading him considering that he's been their best defensive player for a good while now (yes, better than Merriman).

But yeah, the round of the pick is the hold up. According to ESPN the Saints offered a fourth and the Chargers want a third. In fact, the involvement of the Saints may help us make this move since we don't want to see a player of that caliber end up with a division rival. I still don't know how I'd feel about giving up a third, though.

    Edwards was weakside in KC.

I would welcome the addition, although it seems a bit odd, considering how many LB's we have. Maybe you guys are right, and there's something wrong with Diggs and Morgan that we don't know about. If so, this would definitely be a worthwhile move. I know a few Charger fans who aren't fond of Edwards, but I don't buy it. He's still a playmaker, and would fit in nicely on the outside.

I'd trade our 2nd, we'd waste it anyway.

Were he younger I might agree but a 3 is too high. Although our three next year will be the last pick in the third round.

Look at our very recent history of third round picks....

FUck yeah Id do it. This is a guy who would bring a serious playmaking ability to our defense. This is a guy who can help us get to a Superbowl.

Pay the fucking third, and get him.

We couldn't do that straight up, but the Chargers recently placed a running back on IR....

According to the link in the other thread about Edwards (jake restructuring), the chargers just wanted a 4th rounder.

*edit* never mind they want more.

Fuck that. I don;t think giving a day one pick for a 33 year old is real smart. But hey - wtf do I know?

Do Hurney and Fox know Edwards from their days in SD? *he might be that old even*.
