    Per Charlotte.com

NFL Commissioner Pat Tagliabue said Thursday morning no Carolina Panthers officials had knowledge that any current or former players were visiting Columbia physician James Shortt, who is at the center of a federal investigation alleging he illegally prescribed steroids.

Tagliabue visited the Panthers as part of his training camps tours.

He also said the league's investigation of the alleged involvement of Panthers in the Shortt case is close to wrapping up.

He said the way the league's standard policy is written concludes that none of the implicated players will face suspension.

CBS' "60 Minutes" reported that current player Jeff Mitchell, former players Todd Steussie and Todd Saurbrun received prescriptions from Shortt. The Observer has reported that former players Kevin Donnalley and Nathan Black were patients of Shortt's.

No, unfortunately. The media will just keep rehashing and rehashing and driving it into the ground.

No, but it may lessen. Let's just say, if he had found otherwise, it would explode into something really ugly and bad.

I was in the car listening to WFNZ and he had Dr Short's litery agent on talking about this stuff. Wow, Packman is really gunning to make this a big story. Small time station trying to be CNN. There is really nothing more disgusting...

Am I the only Panther fan bothered by the fact that there's a damn good possiblity some of our players used performance enhancing substances prior to representing us and the rest of the Carolinas in the biggest game in the world?

I'm not saying this to argue or insult, just to state my opinion. Which is:

I'd bet every other team has guys doing the same thing. We beat teams because we did roids and they didn't? I don't believe everyone else is clean. You really think the Pats were squeaky clean? The Rams? The Cowboys, D'iggles?

I don't see what they did as anything "bad" they were taking testosterone. That is something that your body naturally makes. Most of these were older players and as you get older older your body produces less test. They took it to keep their test levels at a "normal" level. I don't see this as any different then someone taking blood pressure medication to keep their B.P. at a noprmal level..... Was it technically cheating ??? I guess so but, I don't really care what they did personally. I do care if in fact the team coaches knew that they were cheating and turned a blind eye.

So, it's alright if they do it, as long as nobody knows about it.

It might disappoint you faith in humanity to learn this, but when the rewards are huge amounts of money and fame most participants will do anything they can get away with to win. That's just the nature of things. Probably so would most here if tempted.
