790 is on the level of WFNZ, better in the morning, worse in the afternoon.

    680 is unlistenable.

Old guys should not be allowed to do general call-in shows, example: Skip Caray and Larry Munson.

Best afternoon talk show around (3-6P CT)
    WJOX-690 AM Birmingham.
Herb Winches and Ben Cook actually talks sports and are journalists first, personalities second. The closest thing to the old "Bob Kemp" show on SNR.

I listen depending on the topic. Usually I get tired of it and listen to music. Unless Szoke's got an update on the Fox. He's cool.

I agree with much of the posts on here. Packman's schtick is tired, but he still gets listeners. As long as ratings are good, he will never push the creative envelope. I'm still looking for someone to tell me that QCB's bit is funny. And as a Tarheel fan, I'm sick of hearing about them too!! I'd like to hear more baseball, but then again, it'd be of the level of Giants/Dodgers mudslinging. I'm fairly certain that Packman couldn't name the starting lineup of the Giants. That much is true.

The only saving grace is that he does pull in good guests from time to time. But honestly, is there a more worthless time to listen to Packman than from 5:17-5:40pm? Starts with QCB drivel, then loads of commercials, then a VERY tired whiner line (put this one to bed, please!), and then on Tuesdays, the twins. From this time period, I seek out other alternatives. NPR has been sounding pretty good lately! I'd love to give Spiers and Krantz my time, but every time I turn the station to them, they're talking about mid-east conflict/policy. Guys, please move on!!

i haven't listened to fnz in about a year.

doesn't sound like i've missed much, but i'd take it over the nonesense that is small-town talk radio.

well, his ratings are good... consider the alternatives - There isn't anything else that will hold the interest of people in our Demographic - Spires and Crantz can be an alternative, but between the commercials and the NON-STOP talking about DSS for months, I'd rather listen to some sports.

I'd be curious to see if we had another real sports station (which we never had, and won't have) if they'd beat WFNZ. All it would take would be for someone to have a decent host and actually talk about sports and it'd be a winner... Primetime talks about the same exact things every singe day because they have the same callers every single day.

I'd like to get XM at work but I don't think it'd reach in this hulking metal building I'm in... I generally just listen to SportingNews Radio or ESPNRadio on the net.
