I was just thinking, with all the noise about Detroit having to at least interview an African American candidate for the HC position, does anyone know if Jacksonville did before they signed JDR? As far as I heard, there were no other candidates. Am I wrong?

    Denny Green went down there.

Jerry Jones had a telephone conversation with Dennis Green...the NFL wasn't too keen on that and have since said they want a face to face formal interview....the rules have changed for the lions.

Did he actually interview? I remember his name was being tossed around, but I don't remember if he ever had a formal interview.

    If so, my bad.

I thought I read somewhere Green won't interview until Mooch was out of the picture. Kinga like 'why waste my time'.

...but I don't remember a rule being made official, just Cochran's noise.

I think in Del Rio's case where he was hot but not proven, Jax should have made a better interviewing effort. But I don't think the NFL should have a case for Dallas & Detriot. These guys are proven. Even they way Oakland and Minnesote promoted from within should not be scruntinized.

I think change will come, and should, but not in a reverse discrimination type.

i DON'T THINK IT SHOULD(RACE) HAVE A SEAT ON THIS ISSUE. EITHER YOU ARE QUALIFIED FOR THE JOB OR NOT. A MANS SKIN COLOR SHOULD HOLD NO BEARING ON HOW ANYONE SHOULD HIRE FOR A JOB!

Fact is, there aren't nearly as many qualified African American assistants/coaches as there are white. This is one of the biggest reasons why there are more white HC's.

Fact is until some one said hey we need more black coaching prospects none were made. Fact is the qualified ones that were around were rarly sought out.
