I think it's apparent that Moose isn't Delhomme's favorite target. From the Herald:

    • COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN: There were differing accounts of quarterback Jake Delhomme's interception on the first play of the second quarter.

Immediately after Texans cornerback Aaron Glenn snagged the ball in the end zone, Delhomme gestured angrily toward the play, since it appeared Muhsin Muhammad failed to turn around and may have run the wrong route.

But Panthers head coach John Fox said he would have preferred Delhomme heave the ball into the seats if there was uncertainty.

"Just maybe a little miscommunication," Delhomme said. "Maybe I shouldn't have tried to force it down there. We were trying to get a big one."

Muhammad, on the other hand, placed the blame squarely on others.

"I think it was just some bad judgment on ball placement," Muhammad said. It's just one of those things where we probably wish we could have had that ball back, maybe throw it away if they were playing deep or maybe threw a shorter pass."

Typical. Jake is taking one on the chin to be a team player and Moose is just dropping the ball....

Reminds me of that commercial were the guy says he's been carrying the team and all the turnovers arent his fault because the team should have over come them.

I don't see that as true.

Jake's saying he forced it. Muhsin is saying the ball placement was bad. Fox is saying that Jake shouldn't have forced it. Sure, Muhs is not free from censure, but from those comments, the players are on two perspectives of one opinion, and the media has a separate conclusion of that same play. The only inference to a mistake by Muhammad was by the media.
As well, Fox and Muhammad seem to agree that it should have been thrown away rather than forced.

So is Muhsin really shirking responsibility if his coach doesn't find him at fault?

Since Delhomme has a problem with occasionally floating a ball because of throwing off the back foot, and also tends to throw high a few times a game, that seems to be a logical conclusion that has nothing to do with people looking to blame Muhammad for whatever comes along.

I got the game in Tivo. No matter how many times you look at it, you see the receiver slowing up heading into traffic. Perhaps it was not 100% on target, but had the receiver kept on his route at the very least he could have prevented the interception.

Moose gave up, as he has done all season long. The man deserves no benefit of the doubt, only a pink slip on the locker...

No. I don't see Muhammad preventing anything. That was an overthrown ball that a corner put a burst on to get under. Muhammad would never have that burst.

And no, he's not tanked anything this season. Has he sucked the last four or so games? Yeah. Has he lacked NFL speed this year? Yeah. Has he played hard? Sorry, yes he has.
Fox agrees with Delhomme and Muhsin. It was a bad ball.
