Okay I know sportswriters like to write shit sometimes & stir the pot. Stewart has one good game and I see this week that Williams may be traded (ESPN Insiders stuff), Salary cap causalty, etc.. So whats the story, Is it possible we trade Deangelo or so,ehow lose the best RB the franchise has ever had? Opinions ? I feel that this is just speculation but you never know

Oh jeez I shoul not have read that. If anything let stewart go and keep williams. As one commentor pointed out Stewart has never been 100% while Williams has proved pretty durable. Well we have a year to figure it out.

I figured the plan was to trade Williams or release him when we drafted Stewart. We probably need both since both of them are nicked up pretty often.

If they want to make a trade then trade whoever gets the most. I like both of them a lot but the reality is that RBs are currently the easiest to find in the draft. You'd probably want to deal the oldest who is closest to free agency.

I'd love to sign him to a deal that isn't huge but if it comes to it franchise and trade.

What tier QB/DE/DT could we get for him? I suspect not much and we don't really have many draft picks to throw on the table with it, do we?

I like Deangelo. And he's maybe getting a bit unfair a situation for having gotten hurt twice.

And his 2008 run was really fantastic. He didn't fumble, he scored 20 times, best season ever for a Panther.

But, realistically, I don't know he's a better back than JS. Stewart also seems to be a better blocker, receiver, and just as good a runner - he just lacks the cutback ability DW has. I also think that if Stewart hadn't gotten hurt in GB, I don't know that Williams gets the esteem he currently gets - if Stewart scores those four TDs, which is entirely realistic, is he the feature?

Williams would've erased all doubt if he had simply excelled in 06-07. And you can call it Fox stubbornness but as you can hear from DW himself, he wasn't working hard enough to earn it. Which matters.

The bottom line is that the 2010 season's DW's last, and realistically I'm not sure if it makes much sense to give him a 400% raise with another back this good here. There are hardly any success stories on those second contracts for RBs, whether staying with their team or going on to the next.
