If you told me a week ago, "OK, Hammer....I'll trade you Mike Wahle and Ken Lucas for Moose, I would have said yes."

    Yes.

Can't help but worry, as I said above, that we've spent way too much. But I'd rather us try, than sit there and spend a mil each on shitty backups like last year.

I am thrilled in a sence, but honestly I am more cautiously optamistic that this wont cripple the team financially.

Sure I am excited that we made some news and we certainly should have majorly upgraded at positions we have been bitching about for years, but if the dynamic duo of Lucas and Wahle kill us for the next 5 years then this day will go down as a typical Panther historic blunder.

Other than that... :ylsuper: :woot: :woohoo:

The only people happier than us is Jake and Steven Davis and Jake"s wife. I'd love it if we could find one more OLman, a rook would do.

It means we are loading up for the next couple of years. So we have to make it count. We are a playoff team, or bust.

It may mean doing backflips to get under the cap in a few years. Its the last year probably we can afford to keep high priced depth. So our best chance may be this season.

Right now, got to make hay.

Exciting. But it also puts an end to all that "let's win and be frugal like the Pats" talk. This year, we are loading up.

And pray the cap goes up to 100 million. Soon. C'mon ABC, poney up. I want my MNF, even if it is with a couple of boring old men hosting.

Big news that no one is talking about is that we are not going to sign a WR.

    From panthers.com

On if the Panthers will try to sign a wide receiver in free agency:

These are two major moves. I wouldn't expect to see us in this area again this year as far as financial commitments go. You can't do this a lot. We're always looking to improve, though, and our pro scouts do a great job. If the right fit comes along, then you try to make it work.

I know the FO couldn't have for seen it, but with a lackluster selection list coming up in the draft...lets just say the Panthers have a little dumb luck on thier side.
While other teams are forced to cut key players to get under the cap, the Panthers have been able to trim some fat (except Moose) and position themselves to be aggressive in the FA market to fill major needs.
Now the Panthers can go into the draft without having to force 4th and fifth rounders into the starting line-up as rookies. Finally, we can actually take some time to develop some players.

The optomist would call it brilliance, I'll stick with dumb luck.
