My biggest issue with Davidson at this point is, we just don't run the little screens and flare patterns for shit. I don't remember a single one run Monday night. DW is the best playmaker we have, sans possibly SS, and we really should be force feeding him the ball whenever we can.

Dallas had some shitty playcalling, too. I loved that goal line series where they threw back to back fades from the 1 yard line. Shit like that will eventually get Phillips and Garrett fired.

    But Garrett is a genius!!!!!?!?!?!

I think all these guys out think themselves.

And I think we go to shit when we have to play down by more than 7.

they threw a little to Stewart, which makes a little sense given that they'd expect pass more with DW, but yeah, I think the screens took the pipe after they were run so badly earlier.

Which, don't run a screen if you don't think you can execute. On the other hand it kinda blows if you think that a fair portion of that first half moving the ball was just that shit screen to Smith. Which we ran over and over that half.

Dallas could have run for 300 yards, if they wanted to. Garrett really kept us in the game.

We suck when we're down by more than a touchdown because it puts us in a position where we can't afford to run the ball.....2 scores down can't afford to burn the clock. A run-first team is dependent on defense to keep them in the game, skill players to maintain possession, and extended possession of the ball. We did one out of 3 against Dallas.

I have to agree that the defense is what's really slipped the past couple of years. Delhomme's shortcomings are exposed when we get down by a couple of scores.

    Special teams as well.

i don't know. this team is built to run -- a lot. and, when you need a quicker score, jake can do what he did at the end of the first half.

but no doubt the defense needs more stops.

yeah, field position seems to have really declined. would like to see a trend chart for panthers and opponents starting position for drives.
